City, N.D. — Valley City officials voted unanimously on Monday to hold a special election to eliminate the city administrator position after a petition to do so was submitted and approved by city auditor Avis Richter last month.
The city commission voted to bring the issues before voters for a special election vote to be held Tuesday, October 4.
Businessman Tom Drake believes it would be a mistake to eliminate the position.
The effort to get rid of the position started earlier this year after some people thought the position was unnecessary and to costly.
One of the petition supporters, Brian Mindt said he believes the people will vote to eliminate the position.
The City Administrator Jon Cameron, will earn a $75,000 salary this year, excluding benefits.
