member Pat Hurley says right of way easements from landowners in the area east of Sanborn where the pipe will be installed have been approved.
Hurley said B-N-S-F has agreed to pay 100 percent of the cost up to $300,000. The estimated cost to install the underground pipe is around $260,000.
Hurley says the board hopes to let bids on the project as soon as possible.
The state water commission approved of an emergency permit earlier this year to drain water off the lake over a 6 month period. The lake has grown in size and caused problems with their rail bed near Sanborn delaying train traffic and blocking a rail crossing out of the city.
