CITY (NewsDakota.com) A proposal to have a summer café in a downtown alley is getting mixed reviews in Valley City.

Dave Brekke first proposed the idea last year and did so again this week during a city finance meeting. Brekke says a wall would be built in back of the alley to block out traffic so tables and chairs could be put in place. Brekke says a lot of people in Valley City support his idea.

But Brekke hasn’t talk to everyone including Vicki’s Viking room co-owner Terry Jones. He’s opposed to the plan being his delivery trucks wouldn’t be able to enter or exit the alley getting to his business.

Ace Hardware co-owner Allen Lindemann remains opposed to the idea as well. He says parking is an issue for his customers and tenants who live above the store in downtown Valley City.
