VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – There were no injuries when a semi caught fire Saturday evening near Valley City on March 2nd.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that Chad Borst, 48, of Sacred Heart, MN was traveling westbound on I-94 when he heard a pop in the engine. Borst pulled over and could see flames coming out of the engine area by the front tires.
The fire spread quickly through the truck and into the food service trailer. Both the trailer and load were consumed by fire.
The Highway Patrol reports that the westbound lane had to be closed for 2 hours while the fire was contained. Traffic was rerouted through Valley City when law enforcement arrived on scene.
Borst was not injured and the incident remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
