WEST FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – Tense times in West Fargo when fire broke out in a tank at the magellan partners tank farm in west Fargo early Sunday morning.

The tank of fuel oil was east of several other tanks that contain gasoline. Fire chief Dan Fuller says it called for an all-department response with assistance from Fargo fire and Fargo’s Hazardous Materials team.

Firefighting foam was needed to put down the flames. A high-pressure spray truck from the fire department at Hector International Airport managed to get the fire under control after about six-and-a-half hours.

Thick black smoke drifted southwest from the tank farm. Personnel from Frand Forks Air Force Base also responded. High-tech came into play to monitor the fire. Chief Fuller used a drone to view the fire from above.
