S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference announced its first installment of the Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week honors Tuesday.

Valley City State (N.D.) swept the weekly honors with Andrew Hanretty naming to Field Athlete-of-the-Week and Niklas Ernst to Track Athlete-of-the-Week.

North Star Athletic Association Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

Andrew Hanretty – Valley City State (N.D.) – Freshman – St. John, N.D. – Hanretty of Valley City State (N.D.) took first-place in the long jump and second-place in triple jump in the Bemidji State (Minn.) Super 8 Open. He won the triple jump with a mark of 6.49 meters (21 feet, 3.5 inches). Hanretty took runner-up honor in the triple jump, leaping a measurement of 13.21 meters (43 feet, 4.25 inches).

North Star Athletic Association Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

Niklas Ernst – Valley City State (N.D.) – Junior – Kronshagen, Germany – Ernst of Valley City State (N.D.) earned a pair of first-place finishes in the Bemidji State (Minn.) Super 8 Open. He claimed the men’s 400-meter dash with a time of 52.82 seconds. Ernst also ran a leg on VCSU’s winning 4 x 400-meter relay team that clocked a time of 3 minutes, 36.57 seconds.

Looking Ahead Dakota State (S.D.) competes in the South Dakota State University D2 Open on Friday in Brookings, S.D. Viterbo (Wis.) and Waldorf (Iowa) are scheduled to participate in the two-day event at Minnesota State-Mankato Open on Friday and Saturday.

Dickinson State (N.D.) will compete on the first day of the meet for multi-meet. The Blue Hawks will travel to Spearfish, S.D. on Saturday to compete in the Dave Little Invitational.

Jamestown (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) are slated to go to St. Paul, Minn. Friday for the St. Thomas (Minn.) Showcase Open.
