Matt M. Huss, age 96, of Sykeston, ND, died Monday, October 7, 2013, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND.

     Matt Martin Huss was born on November 14, 1916, the son of Math and Anna (Goebel) Huss at Sykeston, ND. He was raised and graduated from Sykeston High School. Matt enlisted in the US Army in February 1942, and served in Hawaii, Philippines and New Guinea. He was Honorably Discharged as Staff Sgt. in November 1945. Matt returned to Sykeston and farmed with his brother, Walter. He retired from farming and moved to Sykeston, and later moved to Carrington and lived at Rainbow Gardens. In January 2013, Matt became a resident at Golden Acres Manor.

     He was a member of the VFW Post and Cooties in Carrington, and of the American Legion Post in Sykeston and St. Elizabeth’s/ St. Joseph’s Society at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church.

     Matt is survived by 3 sisters, Marie Laber, Carrington, ND, Lillian Aljets, Woodburn, OR, and Genevieve (Stanley) Copenhaver, Carrington, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers, John, Fred, Walter, Arthur, and Francis.

     His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013, at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington, ND.

     Visitation will be on Thursday, 11:00AM – 7:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, ND, and one hour before service at the Church.

     A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, ND.

     Burial will be held on Friday at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Sykeston, ND.
