N.D. (AP) – North Dakota House of Representatives has defeated two attempts to relax the state’s blue laws.
North Dakota law doesn’t allow most stores to do business before noon on Sunday and the House has now voted down two proposals to change that.
One measure would have given cities and counties the right to decide whether to allow their stores to open earlier and the second bill would have allowed bars and restaurants to begin serving alcohol at 10 a.m. on Sundays.
Both proposals were overwhelmingly defeated, as House Republican Majority Leader Al Carlson of Fargo says North Dakota already doesn’t have enough workers and says adding Sunday hours would put more stress on them …
