BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Governor Jack Dalrymple is proposing a pilot program that would provide state grants to oil patch cities to help buy modular child care facilities. The state has about $870,000 that could be used for a cost-share program to help address the shortage of child care facilities that’s resulted from an influx of people drawn by the oil boom.
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s congressional delegation says Devils Lake is getting a $1.1 million federal grant to extend the main runway at the city’s airport. U.S. Senators Kent Conrad and John Hoeven and Congressman Rick Berg announced yesterday the runway extension will address concerns that air carriers have about service into Devils Lake. The grant comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) – A stolen semi made it more than 650 miles from Wisconsin to Jamestown, North Dakota before authorities tracked it down. The truck was recovered Thursday after being spotted on Highway 52. North Dakota Patrol Captain Brian Niewind says that the company that owns the truck pinpointed its location through GPS.
